Freck Funeral ChapelJohn Lesniewski, Jr., age 54, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He was born on November 24, 1970, in Sylvania, Ohio, to John Lesniewski and Ruth Foote.John was well-known in his community for his dedication and skill as a journeyman roofer, a trade he embraced during his many years of service at Nordman Roofing until his retirement. His passion extended beyond roofing, as he pursued his dream of captaining a charter boat. John started as a first mate for Richard Beverly on Tricky Dick Charters. He eventually obtained his charter boat captain license and became the captain of the “W’eyes Decision Charters,” where he had the opportunity to share his love for fishing with numerous enthusiasts navigating the serene waters of Lake Erie. He knew all the tricks and best spots to land the fish. Fisherman would say “follow the little blue boat” which was his boat, to the find where the fish were hanging out.Outside of his professional endeavors, John cherished his time spent in nature, embracing hunting and traveling whenever he could. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors resonated with family and friends alike.
John is survived by his children, Johnathen Lesniewski and Ashleigh Lesniewski; grandchildren, Cayden, Liam, Ricky, and Kyleigh; girlfriend, Christina Benson; parents, John Lesniewski and Ruth Attell; stepmother, Carol Lesniewski; his siblings, Christina Lesniewski, and James (Jinny) Lesniewski; former spouse, Leigh Lesniewski; and his nephews, Mark Andrews, and James Ryan Lesniewski. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Lesniewski; nephew, Shane Lesniewski; and in-laws, David and Susan Smith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at the Roofer Local #134 Hall 4652 Lewis Ave. Toledo, OH 43612.
