John T. Lopes

John T. Lopes, age 86, passed away on March 18, 2026.

Born on March 7, 1940, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of Antonio and Caroline Lopes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Dick Lopes, Ray Lopes, Vivian Schenberger, and Lorraine Burridge; his beloved daughter, Susan Lopes; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lopes; his daughter, Michelle Rocha and her husband, Ernesto Rocha; his granddaughter, Ashley Montanio; and his great-grandsons, Dylan Ender and Camden Winn.

He proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force for 29 and a half years, demonstrating unwavering dedication, strength, and commitment to his country throughout his distinguished career.

He was a devoted and beloved husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather, whose love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Leon Valley Baptist Church, 7990 Grissom Rd, San Antonio, TX 78251. A private family viewing will take place from 9:00–10:00 AM, with public visitation from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. A procession to the cemetery will take place following the service.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
