John A. Lynch, age 77, of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully following an illness on September 3rd, 2025.

John was born on February 26, 1948, in Boston, MA; he was the son of the late Robert "George" and Jane (Wilk) Lynch.

John grew up on Walnut St. in Somerville, alongside his siblings Robert, Deborah, and Thomas and cousin Joseph. At a young age, John developed a true love for all things sports. He attended Malden Catholic, excelling in hockey, baseball, and mathematics. A strong student, John went on to Boston College in Chestnut Hill, graduating with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

John met Beryl in Somerville while playing softball for Piro's Pipers, and they married on October 21, 1973. John and Beryl welcomed Johnny in 1977 and Maura in 1981, and moved to 434 Middlesex Ave in Wilmington. John began a long career as a Transportation Terminal Manager, working for many years at Central Transport. John also worked as a real estate agent.

While Johnny and Maura were growing up, John enjoyed coaching their baseball and softball teams and watching their high school games. John loved vacations to Hampton Beach, Maine, the Balsams, and cruises to the Caribbean. Watching the Red Sox and Bruins, playing golf, running errands, doing his paper route, and waking up early to make coffee and read The Boston Globe were some of his favorite things. John was deeply devoted to his family and friends and his Catholic faith.

John was the beloved husband of Beryl A. (McGrath) Lynch, devoted father of John Lynch of Haverhill and Maura Gillis & her husband Tim of Wilmington, loving "Papi" of Richie and Timmy Gillis, dear brother of Robert Lynch and Deborah Lynch both of Medford, Thomas Lynch & his wife Gale of Danvers and cousin Joseph Lynch & his wife Joan of Dracut, brother-in-law of Jay & Donna McGrath of Wilmington, NC. John is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, September 12th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
