John MacAlarney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 13, 2025.
John B. MacAlarney II, of Medford, NJ, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on March 8, 2025, at the age of 66. John was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Savoca) MacAlarney, a devoted father to Megan Medina (Steven), and a loving "Pop" to his granddaughters, Clara and Grace Medina. He was a cherished brother to Candyce Cranston (Bruce) and Susan D. Edwards, and a dear brother-in-law to Cathryn Savoca, Samuel Savoca (Ann), and Karen Rico (John). John's memory will also be treasured by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends who were fortunate enough to know him and experience his great wit.
For over 40 years, John found fulfillment in his career as an attorney, practicing primarily criminal law. He began his career as a prosecutor, but it was his later work as an advocate and consultant in the criminal justice system where his passion for justice truly shined. John's dedication to fairness and his unwavering belief in civil rights made him a trusted voice in the field, and he was deeply respected by colleagues and clients alike. His love for politics, law, and fighting for what was right was evident in everything he did, and his contributions to the field left an indelible mark on those around him.
John was a man of kindness, strength, generosity, and integrity. He was well known for his quick, acerbic wit, making everyone around him laugh and feel welcome. He was an avid supporter of many causes and lived his life with an open heart and a keen interest in all around him. To him, paying it forward was a guiding principle, and he made a lasting impact on many lives through his actions and the example he set. John's warmth, compassion and witty sense of humor were felt by all who knew him.
John's family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love for his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren was immeasurable, and his legacy of love, humor, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, 40 Jackson Rd, Medford, NJ 08055.
