John "Jack" Stewart MacBlane Jr., 94, formerly of
Liverpool, NY, passed away on Sunday surrounded by his family. He was born in Johnson City, NY, on February 27, 1930, the son of the late John S. and Marguerite (McHale) MacBlane. Jack graduated from Villanova University and proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. He spent his career as an electrical engineer and manager of radar systems at General Electric, graduating from GE's Advanced Engineering Course. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Betty, on October 29, 1955. They eventually settled in Liverpool where they raised their children.
After retiring in 1990 he kept busy with many activities: high school math tutor, Mr. Wizard, volunteer tax preparer and played clarinet with the Liverpool Community Band. Jack loved traveling and following SU sports teams and the Yankees. For the last three years he enjoyed independent living at The Nottingham. He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" MacBlane, his sister Ann Morehouse, and his son-in-law, David Berical.
Jack is survived by two daughters and six sons: Mary MacBlane (Thomas Miller), William (Cynthia) MacBlane, Therese Berical, Edward (Brenda) MacBlane, James (Robin) MacBlane, Richard (Lori) MacBlane, Thomas (Jennifer) MacBlane, and John (Jennifer) MacBlane; 18 grandchildren, Meghan, Daniel (Jill), Maureen, Michael, Brianna (Tim), Lauren, Kyle, Julia, Erin, Brian, Madison (Michael), Sydney, Ian, Kelsea, Carlin, Cadin, Pei and Lucy; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Margaret, Patrick, and Vivienne; his brother, Edward (Patricia) MacBlane; two sisters, Janet Schleider and Jeanne MacBlane; sister-in-law, Maureen Muggeo, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Inc., 300 Second St., Liverpool. Funeral services will be on Monday at 9:15 am at the funeral home and 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
