John Madeya Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 5, 2026.
John Joseph Madeya Jr. a loving devoted husband, father, steady friend, and lifelong electrician, whose hands could coax light into to even the darkest corners, passed away on January 1st, 2026.

He was born on August 11, 1941 in Clermont, New Hampshire, he spent his life doing what he did best: connecting things-wire, homes, people. In his work, he carried a quiet pride. He believed a good day's job meant someone else slept a little safer, or lived a little brighter. His colleagues knew him for his know-how and his no nonsense humor, his family knew him for his tenderness disguised as practicality, the kind of love that fixes what's broken before anyone asks.

He met the love of his life, Sherry Madeya, and built with her a marriage rooted in love, trust, warmth, and a deep devotion. To anyone who knew them, it was clear: she was his favorite place to be.

In the moments he wasn't working, he found joy in the simple things, a good cup of coffee, tinkering in his shed, helping others and telling the same stories that somehow never lost their charm. He loved deeply and without fanfare, and he leaves that love behind like a soft glow that doesn't go out.

He is survived by his wife Sherry L. Madeya, his son John J. Madeya III, daughter in law Mary P. Madeya, daughter Laura A. Madeya-Wilson, son Joshua E. Madeya, step daughter Nicole L. Wyrick, pre decreased step son Jerry L. Wyrick, also 26 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a community held together by the many ways he showed up for them.

His absence leaves an ache, but his memory remains bright-the kind of warm wattage only a good man could leave behind.

Per his request, there will be no services.

I can still picture John doubled over, tears running down his cheeks, as he laughed hysterically when our then preschool son Tim told his Uncle Johnny a Polish joke.
