It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Magliochetti, who departed this life surrounded by family on July 19, 2025, in
Canton, Georgia. Born on May 6, 1951, in Port Washington, New York, John was a father and grandfather as well as family and friend to so many he loved and who loved him. John leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter. John's life was a testament to the power of a deep dedication, skilled hands, and a heart full of love. Being a retired Teamster, John was a proud Union member. But beyond his hardworking spirit, John was a man who embraced life and enjoyed simple moments. Throughout his years, you could often find him happily behind the wheel, casting lines into the saltwater, whipping up delicious creations in the kitchen that gathered loved ones around his table, meticulously crafting something in his garage, or simply soaking up precious moments with his grandchildren. He loved the camaraderie of a good "coffee klatch" with family and friends which always included spirited discussions and the playful "breaking of chops" where conversation and camaraderie flowed freely over a cup of coffee. His memory will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. John's greatest joy, however, was found in his family. He was a deeply devoted father to Nicole Magliochetti and father-in-law to her husband, Mike Behrens, as well as his daughter Danielle Shakespeare, and a cherished father-in-law to Rich Shakespeare, who was like a son to him. He will be profoundly missed by his grandchildren, Kirsten Wolfert and Nickolas Shakespeare, who were his entire world along with his grandson, Anthony Wolfert. John embraced the vital role of being a grandparent, understanding that quality time spent with all his grandchildren was the most meaningful gift he could give them. His sister and best friend, LuAnn DeMascola, will also feel his absence deeply, as will his brother-in-law, nephews, niece, and countless friends in both New York and Georgia, who he considered family. John is preceded in death by his beloved first-born grandson, Anthony John Wolfert, whom he will now reunite and rejoice with in Heaven. He is also reunited with his parents, Louis and Antoinette Magliochetti, and his brother and sister, Pat and Bert. In honor of his love for his cherished grandson, Anthony, who was taken from us too soon, the family requests donations to Moms Demand Action in lieu of flowers. Moms Demand Action is the nation's largest grassroots volunteer network working to end gun violence. They advocate for stronger laws and policies to reduce gun violence and work in communities to create a culture of gun safety. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, from 12-8 pm, for family and friends to gather throughout the day. It will be a time to tell stories about his life, share food and laughter, just as he enjoyed doing with loved ones, and a time to celebrate the home he created in all our hearts. John's body decided it was time to rest, but "It is not the strength of the body that counts, but the strength of the spirit and heart." He was a master at building not just structures, but also relationships and memories that stand the test of time. Because of that, his presence and love will live on in all who knew him for eternity.
