John Malone Obituary
The son of Anson C. and Emma Jewel Malone, David was born January 10, 1947, in Columbus, Georgia. He resided in Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL for most of his life, and was employed as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern Railway. Following retirement, David relocated to Perry, FL, where he pursued his greatest passions: fishing and golf. He obtained his captain's license and provided years of charter experiences as "Capt. Dave".
David is preceded in death by his parents, Anson and Emma Jewel, his son, Michael, brother, Joseph, too many friends to name, and several beloved dogs. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gennie Brooks Malone, his daughter, Chris Malone Black (Ed), and son, Alan Malone, grandchildren Sarah Black Hicks (Andrew), Josh Black, and Magen Cleveland, two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Cleveland and Olivia Hicks, and his dog, Scooter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2:00pm at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home, Perry, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Blue Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 15239 Beach Road, Perry, Fl 32348, or to Big Bend Hospice at

All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
