John Marx, a cherished member of the Cincinnati community, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 29, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, John dedicated over 60 years of his life to the profession of pharmacy, concluding his career at Woody Pack's Pharmacy.
John’s commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and friends. As a hard-working and loyal man, he poured his heart into every aspect of his life. He took great pride in being a devoted family man and was especially proud of his wife of 60 years, Judith Marx (nee Kelly), who preceded him in death. John was the loving son of Leonard and Rosemary Marx and the son-in-law of Robert L. and Vera Kelly.
John is survived by his children: Susan "Sue" (Donald) Mashni, James "Jimmy" (Laura) Marx, Elizabeth "Beth" (Jeffrey) Riesenberger, and J. Andrew "Andy" (Shannon) Marx. He also leaves behind a treasured legacy through his grandchildren: Rachel (Jensen) de Njis, Rebecca (Sri) Mashni, Caroline Mashni, Catherine Marx, Michael Marx, Sarah (Carson Corley) Riesenberger, Adam (Megan) Riesenberger, Anna Riesenberger, Leah Marx, Justin Marx, and Emily Marx. Furthermore, he was a proud great-grandfather to Charles, Cecilia, and Margaret de Njis. John's bond with his siblings was strong; he is remembered by his brother Gerald (Marnie) Marx, Carol (Greg) Oswald, Thomas (Diane) Marx, and Michael (Mary Lou) Marx. He also leaves behind cherished memories with his brothers-in-law, including Patricia (the late Robert) Bockhorst and Lawrence (Cathy) Kelly, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Throughout his life, John was known for his storytelling, Sunday backyard grill outs, love of Christmas, and passion for golf and the Cincinnati Reds. His pride in being an Elder Panther reflected his deep connection to his roots and his zest for life.
The visitation for John Marx will take place on January 23, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at St. William Church located at 4108 West 8th Street, Cincinnati, OH 45205. A Mass will follow from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location. John will then be laid to rest during the interment at St. Joseph New Cemetery at 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, OH 45238, starting at 10:45 AM. A live steam of the the funeral Mass will be available at You Tube St. William Cincinnati.
John Marx leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire those he touched in life, reminding them of the importance of family, hard work, and the joy of shared moments.
