John McBeth, age 71 of Gatesville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service.
John Wayland McBeth was born June 6, 1953 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Wayland and Georgia McBeth. He graduated from Killeen High School in 1971. After graduation he started his racing career where we claimed national and world records in drag racing. John loved his family and friends and he never met a stranger. He went on to travel the roads as a truck driver before running the family business, McBeth Yard Decorations, alongside his parents and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayland and Georgia McBeth. He is survived by his brother, Leroy McBeth of Copperas Cove; four children, John McBeth and wife Lisa of Lampasas, Misti Davis of Harker Heights, Lacey Manning and husband Cody of Gatesville, and Katy McBeth of Brownwood; along with six grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Meredith, Shelby, Mattie, and Bryce.
