John Thomas McDowell, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
John was born on October 26, 1933, in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Eugene and Anna Ruth McDowell, also preceding John in death is his sister Betty Jean Moyer, and his wife Jean Elizabeth McDowell. John spent his life working hard, caring deeply for his family, and building meaningful relationships wherever he went.
He was the longtime owner and operator of the Payroll Center, which he founded in 1982. Through his work in accounting, John earned the trust and respect of his clients and colleagues and remained proud of his career even after retirement.
John is survived by his daughters, Stacy Baker and Elicia Miller. He was a proud grandfather to Courtney Swaim, Chandler Swaim, Jesse Burgess, Kristi Lane, and Tommy Myall, and a devoted great-grandfather to his great-grandchildren, all of whom meant the world to him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am, in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Graveside services will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park beginning at 12:00 pm.
John will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured time with his family. His kindness, steady presence, and quiet wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
