John Anthony McGriff

John Anthony McGriff, beloved son of the late Lucious Sr. and Rosa Lee McGriff, was born October 10, 1952, in Miami, Florida. He was the third oldest of five children and was converted and baptized at an early age. Being reared in a religious home, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Historic St. John A.M.E. Church.

John attended the public schools of Dade County and graduated from Southwest Senior High in June of 1971.
One of the happiest days of John's life was on August 10, 1974, when he married his high school sweetheart, Irene, who preceded him in death. To this blessed union, two beautiful daughters were born, Kelli Roseann and Joni Gail.

Dependable and hard-working, John was dedicated to working for more than 50 years at Foremost Sunset Corners, Fine Wines & Spirits, notably as a manager, a sommelier, and finally as a consultant of now Jensen's Liquors.

John had many hobbies and talents that he loved and shared. He was an avid gardener and could often be found tending to his splendid yard and creating beautiful landscapes. He loved all sports, being a die-hard Dol-fan, and enjoyed spending time watching them with family and friends. He was also a lover of music and could always be found singing, dancing, and having a good time.

John's love for his family and friends was unmatched, and he will always be remembered for his loud laughter, kind heart, and gentle spirit. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, uncle, father, godfather, grandfather, and friend who is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed.
Because of John's strong faith in God, he was able to face his illness bravely and fearlessly. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27th at his home.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his two loving and dedicated daughters and son-in-law, Kelli Roseann McGriff Williams and Joni Gail Williams (Rafael); two brothers, Lucious McGriff Jr. (Sheri) and David T. McGriff (Sandra); two sisters, Fannye Mae McGriff Hills and Vivianne McGriff Henderson (Laurcean); two godchildren, Belinda Coleman-Robinson and Patrick Celcis; four grandsons: JaKen Howard, Najeh Williams, Kendrick Howard, Judah Williams, and one granddaughter Mariah Irene Harper, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
