John McIntyre Obituary

McIntyre, John W. "Jack" age 87, died Tuesday December 11, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East. Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Huber McIntyre and his brother Bob McIntyre. Survivors include his children, Ann (John) Miller, Becky (Phil) Dalman, John (Debbie) McIntyre and Tim (Kathy) McIntyre. Survivors also include his nine grandchildren; Johnny, Michael and Scott McIntyre, Jackie (Murray), PJ and Christopher Dalman, Angie Scalf, Molly Mills and Patrick McIntyre; six great-grandchildren; brother Jim McIntyre and sisters-in-law Mary Alice McIntyre, Judy McIntyre and Margaret Corcoran. Jack was a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi Grade School, St Xavier High School and the University of Louisville and played basketball for all three schools. After graduating from UofL in 1948 with a Business degree, he went on to become a very successful CPA and a financial executive. He was a Life Member of the Kentucky Society of CPA's and an honorary member of the American Institute of CPA's. He also taught Accounting classes in the early years of Bellarmine College. He was an Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet in WWII, joining the service at the age of 17 while still attending St X. While in the service he was selected to the San Antonio Service Allstar Basketball team. He was a past president of the PTA and Board of Advisors at St X. In addition, Jack was a member of the Downtown Louisville Rotary Club for 32 years, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Big Spring Country Club and Pendennis Club. Jack was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed golf, cards and horse racing. He was a true gentleman and a family man. His friendly smile and quick wit will be missed by all. His Funeral Mass will be 10 am Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 3345 Lexington Rd. with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Rattermans 3711 Lexington Rd Expressions of sympathy may go to either Mass of the Air or Hosparus.
