John Peter McNamara
Born: December 13, 1953 in Ottawa, IL
Died: August 23, 2023 in Ottawa, IL
Beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, John Peter McNamara, "Johnny Mac,'" died on August 23 at his brother's home in Sterling, Illinois following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of La Salle County, he was 69 years old.
John is preceded in death by his father John T. McNamara, his devoted mother Emily D. McNamara, his eldest sisters Patricia and Peggy and his dear nephew Dennis.
John's big heart, his quick wit, and his infectious laugh will be greatly missed by his surviving family. His sisters Lauren and Jacalyn, his brother Michael, his nieces Mary, Jessica and Casey, his nephews Lucas, Michael, and Sean, and all their children and grandchildren ask you to hold John in your prayers.
John will be cremated without services at McDonald's Funeral Home in Sterling. The family will hold a private celebration of life. Donations in John's memory can be sent to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, cholangiocarcinoma.org.

I'll always remember Johnny Mac stoping in front of the house on his motorcycle on his way out to the ranch he would jump off run in the garden and grab a few tomatoes and cucumbers . Let out that famous cackle and how back on his bike and take off. Had a lot of good laughs with the Mac
