John W. Merkle

I was lucky enough after work with John on a few projects. One of those projects required a once a week to drive from Portsmouth to Weston MA. On those rides, we had a lot of great conversations and I really got to know John. We would talk about his fishing trips to the islands and about his first job as an architect in Portsmouth and the cast of characters at that firm.In my career people like John are few and far between. He had great talent, he was a great listener and always put the client´s interests first. John had integrity and I will miss him.

I'm saddened to hear this news and my thoughts are with John's family during this difficult time.
I had the pleasure of working with John on many projects. John also was my sponsor for joining the Portsmouth Rotary Club 20+ years ago. His kindness is his legacy for me. I can be kind and respectful to other people even in the most challenging of circumstances. Thank you, John, rest in peace. James
