John Mihelich Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 30, 2026.
John Paul Mihelich, 58, of Lake Orion, Michigan, formerly of Algonac, Michigan, passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 27, 2026. Born in Warren on November 13, 1967 to Donald and Elsie (Rose) Mihelich, John grew up and spent most of his life living in Algonac, where he loved to fish, spectate at the various boat races, and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River. John loved sports, tracking the stats, and proudly displayed his favorite teams by wearing their logos. John was always thoughtful by making sure his family always had a card from him to acknowledge and celebrate special occasions such as holidays and birthdays.

John was preceded in death by his father Donald and sister-in-law Patricia. He is survived by his loving mother, Rose, brother Thomas, sister Theresa (Paul), brother Michael (Deanne), nephews Jason (Nicole), Brent (Jenna), Jack, niece Ava, great-nephew Jacob, great-niece Madison, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

John will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A funeral mass will be held in his honor on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church (715 N Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48362) with visitation beginning at the church at 10:30. John will be laid to rest in a private burial at St. Catherine's cemetery in Algonac.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 703 N Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion MI 48362.
