Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

September 19, 2021

I have just learned (September 2021) of Fred’s passing and the news saddened me more than I would have imagined. Maybe, in part , because I’m older now. I was just a kid when I met Fred, just about 4 years into my career in the steel industry, approximately 42 years ago. Well, that’s the start, but most important to mention is that he was a tremendous help to me as an operator of blast furnaces trying to maximize our production. I’m sure anyone reading this knows that Fred was smart and technically very competent, and that he used that gift to become a foremost authority on blast furnace charging systems. We became friends over the years as I listened and learned from him. I’m sorry I didn’t stay in touch, our last lunch meeting was in probably 2013 in the downtown Pittsburgh steel building. My condolences to his wife and family. I’m thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Fred.

Dear Diane and Family,

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all during your loss! May you be surrounded by the Love of the Father, family and friends during this time and days ahead. Jay and I enjoyed the camaraderie we had with Fred and never tired of his stories! He was so much fun to talk with! Many times I saw that twinkle in his eye like he was sitting in the catbirds seat, especially during a debate! We appreciated his Love of family and how proud he was of his wife and each family member and their achievements. So glad to have known him; faithful Christian, a sweet, loving, dedicated, loyal, interesting and wise man! What a great Heritage and Name he left behind that will Bless many for years to come! Love you!! (Jay & Sherry Becker)

Dear Diane and family
My deepest sympathy to you. May you find comfort in the knowledge that Fred has "graduated" to God's open and loving arms.
I think of you all often and I am truly blessed that you took in this little country girl while she went to school in the big city.
Hold tight to the wonderful memories of such a wonderful man and know that many are holding you in their hearts and remembering along with you.

So sorry, Diane and sons. Your husband and father sounds like a great human being. His work in thr steel industry is impressive. I was born in , and lived near Gary where the steel industry is the foundation of thge city. I recently took care of my mom before she passed into the arms of Jesus so I am sharing a feeling of sorrow with your loss. May Holy Spirit comfort you all in ways you may have never experienced before.
