John Moore

Sadly, I´m just now learning of John´s passing, but I wanted to share a memory that I´ve carried with me for years.

I knew John from our Fair-Play days, and he was a great friend to me for a very long time. In the early 2000s, my career pulled me from Iowa down to Georgia, but he and I stayed in touch well after that.

Here´s something that many people may not know: in the spring of 2006, John became a bonafide godfather-not so much the Francis Ford Coppola type, but the godfather of my first child, Charlotte. He flew down to Georgia for her baptism and stood there in St. Monica´s Catholic Church holding her like she was the Holy Grail while the priest did his thing. The look on his face was priceless-part pride, part confusion, and part terror that he might drop her. I´ll never forget that moment.

John was a great guy, and the world´s a little dimmer without him. But knowing John, he´s probably up there keeping an eye on the people he cares about-just like he always did down here.

My sincere condolences to John´s family-his kindness, humor, and friendship left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

John was my unconditional friend.

I met John in 1973. He had started at Fair-Play in 1969 and I in 1972. At that time 1973 he worked for both LaFayette Radio/Fair-Play. His work location was LaFayette Radio. Fair-Play management made the decision to move John back to the service department at Fair-Play, John liked being away from Fair-Play and it was a bit of a transition for John. I noticed as the years passed John became more outspoken, I guess you could say he wasn't as hesitant to speak his mind. Always remember working along side of John in service and out on the road. We always had a good time, but got our work done. In 1986 I got married and John did all the photo's for our wedding. Always remembering John purchasing the best in electronics and camera equipment, when a new design would come out. John and I retired from Trans Lux the same day January 31,2020. We talked over the years and would get together for lunch. Our last conversation was about being retired for almost four years. I'm sorry for John's passing too early in this life. I'll miss him, but hope to see him again. To John's family, I'm so sorry for your loss and Gods Blessings to comfort you during this time. Dave Light

We were their neighbor; we grew up together. Johnny (as we called him) was the only boy in their family and in our neighborhood, to the best of my memories. He was quiet, and I believe everyone had respect for him. Blessings & love to his sisters... they are all such a wonderful family.

John and I spent Almost 30 years working at FairPlay/Fairtron. John was a very kind person, and he was funny he would always make you laugh. Or you could make him laugh. It was always fun celebrating his birthday with him in the area he worked in with Judi and Tim . There was always coworkers in that department visiting with the anytime you walked by, so just had to stop in and see what was going on and he would be sharing his rhubarb cake he was most famous for. Sometimes you just go in just to get the scoop with what´s going on with in the company, seems John had the insight of what was going to happen or not happen. He was a go to for info . But most of all he was one of us originals. That were the best of best when FairPlay was just FairPlay. 50 years that just wow´s me . I pray that he did not suffer. He was always spending time at the gym working out on the treadmill. Going to miss you John.
