Oh John, I’m so late posting here but so heartfelt nonetheless. How privileged I was to contract singers for your projects! Everyone especially loved recording History of the World Part One. Many laughs that day, especially on The Inquisition. Singers love having the chance to say a line or two, they get to be hammy! You g Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are two of my favorites, along with Dirty Dancing. Fabulous resume you have there! I so loved our time together. Thanks for everything. Your music, your wonderful music, will bring joy and good feeling to many for not only years but decades to come (am listening to The In-Laws soundtrack as I type this). Thank you for the great advice you gave me forty years ago, a reply to a teenager's fan letter. Proud to say every book you recommended, be it Max Rudolf's conducting book or Henry Mancini's Sounds and Scores, occupy prominent places on my book shelf. Was pleased, no, thrilled, that in our second (and final) correspondence, some thirty-one years later, you magnanimously allowed me to dedicate a movement of my Australia portraits suite for horn ensemble, Outback and Around, to you and am grateful for the advancements in communications technology that made such a re-connection possible.

Was delighted to recently learn you appreciated your fans. We certainly appreciated you and your unforgettable music.

Sorry to lose a lovely friend. I engineered a number of recordings of John's music and found him to be a truly sensitive musician.
He was never anything but nice to me and all the musicians and crew members. Although we never really socialized, he was so nice that I thought of him as friend more than client. I miss him.
