From about 1954 to 1966 we lived directly across from the Mrus´s on Stoneybrook Drive, Howland OH. John was four years older than myself and much more mature. So, the ephinany I have of him occurred on a summer August day in 1963. My father was washing the wheels of his Oldsmobile 88 and upset that I hadn´t been cooperating with him. Without any warning his arms began to flail and I screamed and caught him as he fell toward the ground. I saw John Mrus run out his parent´s front door. And then he was there giving chest compressions to my Dad. He was the First Responder even then. If there is such a thing as an after life, then John Mrus has earned his due.
