Our condolences to all the Newell family. Was raised in the Union City Nazarene church and remember my parents talking about all of you fondly. Was looking at a picture my grandma took when I was in kindergarten and some kids names on the back. Scottie Newell was in a picture. I wondered what happened to all of you. My parents passed on to our Lord's care but there was a picture of Rev. Newell and Dorothy at my parent's driveway 80s or early 90s we found. Time goes fast and may our Precious Jesus encompass all of you as you celebrate John's life.

I am relatively new to First Church and met John there. I thought he was a new person at the church so at coffee hour I introduced myself and spoke with him. He is such a gentle soul and gave me ideas on how to manage my deburring company. He is incredibly intellectual, knowledgeable about lots of things. His sense of humor was great for instance, he went to get breakfast at the drive through, asking for a sandwich sausage and no cheese. He drove up to the window paid and there´s cheese. He drove up again explaining that he didn´t want cheese. What happened next he gets cheese! Drives around a third time again gets cheese! So he leaves and a K 9 unit pulls him over. He explained to the officer the situation. The officer goes into the restaurant and comes back out to John with a sandwich without cheese! John asked the officer if he could give his dog his sandwich the officer thanked him and John thanks the officer. I will never forget the story and I will never forget the love that John shared with those who took the time to talk with him. God bless you John. I will see you soon.
