Mr. John Allen Oglesby, age 86, of Colfax, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Colfax. Born on January 1, 1939, in Grant Parish, Louisiana, he was the son of the late John W. Oglesby and Mazie DuBois Oglesby.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Oglesby was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a proud member of his local Masonic Lodge and will be remembered for his steady character, kind spirit, and lifelong devotion to those he cherished most.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Leona DuBois and Dora Hattaway. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Esther Purvis Oglesby of Colfax; sons, William Trent Oglesby, Gary Allen Oglesby, and Vance LaCaze and wife Ashley; daughters, Renee Deese and husband Lynn, Janice Hosey and husband Lamar, and Eva Baxley; sisters, Mary Jo Sammons and husband Carroll, and Betty Mae Lashley; brothers, Joseph Earl Oglesby and wife Barbara, and Huey Oglesby and wife Penny; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Rev. Doug James and Rev. Paul Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Oglesby Family Cemetery.
