Hi Honey
It has been a very long time. So sorry to hear of the "O"s passing.

I have been given the honor of eulogizing John at the annual FDU First Pitch dinner on 2/11/17. It will be attended by approximately 200 guest including current and former players.

Please let me know if there is anything you think John would like me to say to the FDU family.

John may have played only 1 game for the Buffalo Bisons ...however he had a great time in the big leagues.

To Johnny's family- I am sending prayers to all of you as I remember this gentle man. Johnny was in Tacoma, WA in the very early 60's when I was a little girl. My parents took him under their Italian wings. He enjoyed pasta at our house many times. At one of those dinners all of the neighbor kids came over to have their baseball gloves signed. I was pretty popular! He was so kind to me, I will always remember that side of him. I have thought of him fondly through the years. Don't worry, we'll all be together again, I do believe that. Let me express my sadness to all of you. He was very special. Sincerely with love, Linda (Pignataro) Fruge'

I remember him as the catcher for the Orioles. He brings back many happy memories of my youth, following big league baseball and hoping I would one day play in the majors.

John Orsino was my favorite Oriole player from 1963-1965. I was 11 to 13 years old at that time. While playing as an Oriole, John worked "part-time" at Al Flora's Bar & restaurant near Gywnn Oak junction in Howard Park. My Father used to frequent Al Flora's occasionally, and took me there a couple of times to meet and see Mr. Orsino. John also hosted for three Saturdays in a row, a boy's baseball camp at Howard Park Elementary school Recreation Center which was awesome to attend. Those were the days ! My condolences to his family.

John and I were teammates at Fort Lee High School and on the local American Legion team. Johnny was the star, even then. I still remember some of his towering home runs! Being overseas most of the 60's, didn't realize how good a record he had in the majors (particularly for my beloved Orioles!).

Please accept my deepest condolences and wishes for strength during this difficult time.

In 1965, Johnny Orsino came to visit my fifth grade class at Saint Teresa's School in Trumbull, CT. It was a beautiful gesture of faith and grace to his former teacher, Sister Remberta, who clearly had an impact on his younger life in school in Fort Lee. Class Act!

So sad to hear of John's passing. I met him at Fort Campbell Army Post after being called to active duty in October 1961. He was the greatest guy taking me around in his new Chrysler bought for him by his so many hometown fans. While on the Post baseball team, he would hit the longest home runs ever recorded there and would win so many ball games. I have never forgotten my time with him which made my time there so much easier. May he now rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of John's passing. I had the pleasure of playing baseball with John in high school and with the old Fort Lee AC back in the 1950's. John was a fine team-mate and a good friend. My condolences to his family.

I played golf with John here in Baltimore in the early 60's. I believe he brought along his friend, Bob Saverine and we played Mt. Pleasant. I remember this round of golf because John, who I didn't know before the round, turned out to be such a memorable nice guy. Never to be forgotten.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family at this difficult time. Please find peace in knowing that God understands your grief and that he cares. 1 Peter 5:6&7 assures us "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time, while you throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you."
