John Parr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home - Marks Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
John Will Parr, age 96, made a peaceful transition from Earthly life to Heavenly life at home on January 25, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Haynesville and the owner of Parr's TV.

John Will was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, and by his grandchildren, Jessica Parr and Michael Hayes. He was survived by his children: David, Gloria, Janice, Lisa and Amy; and their families, including 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He served his community in many ways, including as a charter member of the Richmond County Rescue Squad, the Wicomico Power Squadron, and the Haynesville Neighborhood Watch. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy. John Will was a deacon in his church and provided a recorded ministry to those who were homebound.

John Will and Patricia traveled across the country and around the world, but he was always happy to come home to his pets and his favorite chair.

A celebration of John Will's life will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Welch Funeral Home Marks Chapel. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Reverend Danny Maupin will officiate. Following his service, John Will and Patricia will be inurned together in Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richmond County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1371, Warsaw, VA 22572 to honor John Will's great love of animals.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers who tended to John Will in his later years.
