John Parsons Obituary

Published by Lassila Funeral Chapel on Jul. 3, 2011.
Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Opa, Uncle or Friend. John Lee answered to them all with a love and devotion that will always be treasured. John Lee was born in Woodlake, California on July 18, 1936 to Charles E. Parsons and Ruby Lucille (Woods). He was overjoyed when 10 years later his little brother Trent came into his life. They became partners in life, finding fun and joy at every turn as young boys and into adulthood. John was preceded in death by his Father Charles, and his Grandson Johnathon. John joined the United States Air Force in July 1954 and served faithfully until 1958. While serving his Country, he married the Love of his Life, Louise 'Dolly' Theresa Halencak on June 16, 1956. They started their life living in Harlingen, Texas while John Lee finished his Air Force commitment. He went to work for the U.S. Geological Survey in 1958 and then in 1959 he went to work for the Department of Defense and completed a 36 year career as an Industrial Photographer at McClellan Air Force Base. He loved his job, especially when it enabled him to take pictures in the belly of a plane while traveling at breakneck speeds! He retired in 1991 and started working on his 'Honey-Do-List'! John and Louise were blessed with the births of 5 children who have given them much joy. They will all miss their father, but rejoice having had him in their lives. John Jr. (Ronda), Michael (Lisa), David, Timothy and Mari Sisneros (Tony). As they grew up and left the nest, John Lee encouraged them to be good human beings, and they all listened... Each of the 5 children gave John Lee and Dolly the gift of Grandchildren and they were overjoyed at the announcement of each birth. Trenton, Amanda, Kiersten (Stephen), Johnathon, Travis, Joshua, Cory, Jacob, Brennan, Jaryll, Zachary and Alexander. John Lee got to bounce each one on his knee and hear their peals of laughter as he tickled that spot! The family took on a new generation in the form of Great-Grandchildren and John Lee anticipated each birth and loved them with all his heart. He loved his new name, 'Opa'! Logan, Taylor and Lorelei brought him much joy. As their lives moved on and some of their children moved around the Country, John and Dolly moved on to the next phase of life, retirement. John Lee loved to travel and what better way to see the sights then by pulling a fifth-wheel into some of the most beautiful places they were able to share together. They traveled where the wind took them, stopped when it suited them, enjoyed sunsets with a glass of cabernet and many a sunrise with a cup of coffee, and always each other. They were able to spend a month in Canada then travel to Alaska for a 2 month exploration that included John Lee's brother Trent and his wife Marilyn. The trip of a lifetime! As we gather to place the last puzzle piece of John Lee's life on the table, we leave you with the parting words that John would say to a loved one leaving his sight; Be Safe, Be intelligent, and Remember Who You Are... Peace be with you...
