John Perry Obituary

John Perry, devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A resident of West Deptford, New Jersey, John was born and raised in South Philadelphia, where his deep-rooted values of loyalty, humor, and love of family first took shape.

John was the beloved husband of Roseann, his childhood sweetheart he met at the age of 14, with whom he shared 52 years of love, warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. He was the loving father of Matthew, Stephanie (Michael) Ecker, the adoring grandfather of his precious granddaughter, Sophie Ecker, who brought immense joy to his life, and cherished son-in-law of Nancy Z. Bertolini.

John is survived by his brother, Robert (Patricia), and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his mother, Eleanor, his sister, Robin (Robert) and his father-in-law, Peter W. Bertolini.

After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy as an electrician, John built a long and respected career, a majority of which was spent as a MRI National Installer with Philips Medical. His dedication and work ethic left lasting impressions on colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, John found great happiness in his hobbies-most notably his passion for model trains. His enthusiasm for collecting, building, and sharing his love of trains was a constant source of joy. He was also quick with a joke and always had a good story to tell, often leaving friends and family laughing or smiling long after the moment had passed. His warmth, humor, and talent for turning everyday moments into memorable ones will never be forgotten.

Above all, John will be remembered as a loving father and an extraordinary grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and his generosity and jovial spirit touched everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and strength will continue to guide his family and friends for years to come. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to his VISITATION Tuesday December 9, 2025 10am at St. Richard's Church, 18th and Pollock St., Philadelphia, PA 19145. His funeral mass will follow at 11am. Int. private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude’s Shrine, 512 W. Saratoga St., Baltimore, MD 21201 or www.stjudeshrine.org
