John Franklin “Brother Frank” Pfenenger Sr., 69, of Sheridan passed away Wednesday October 22, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. Born to the late James Franklin and Anna May (Willis) Pfenenger in Kansas City, Missouri; John was a 1974 graduate of Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Missouri. John then went on to graduate from the Kentucky Associates Pastor School in 1979 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Brother Frank served as pastor for several churches in his years as a minister. Those churches included Millcreek Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Little Hope Baptist in Oden, Barton Baptist in Barton, St. Charles Baptist in St. Charles, Enon Baptist in Monticello, Forrest Park Baptist in Pine Bluff and Bethany Baptist in North Little Rock, and serving as a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sheridan. Brother Frank service to people did not stop there. He served also as Chaplain for the Fountain Lake Fire Department, Fountain Lake Fire Department Board of Directors, and also as Mayor and Councilman for Fountain Lake, Arkansas.
Brother Frank is survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie (Ault) Pfenenger; sons John Jr. and wife Rachel of Sheridan, Arkansas, Adam “Twinky” Pfenenger of Monticello, Arkansas; grandson John Mason Pfenenger and granddaughter Amy Marie Pfenenger, both of Sheridan, Arkansas; siblings James “Jim” (Paula) Pfenenger of Blue Springs, MO., Joyce Evans of Grain Valley, MO., Beth (Bob) Gross of Blue Springs, MO.; as well as nephews, nieces, friends and other family.
Pallbearers will be Coil Burks, Keegan Delgado, Quentin Delgado, Hank Williams, John Pfenenger Jr., and Adam Pfenenger.
Visitation will be Monday, October 27 from 6pm to 8pm at Buie and Cole Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 28 at 10:00 am at Buie and Cole Funeral Home in Sheridan with Brother Steve Ware of Murphy, NC officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Cemetery in White Hall.
The family would like for memorials to be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Patrick Campbell and the Baptist Heart Failure and Transplant Institute of Little Rock.
