John Picchioni Obituary
John was born in Woonsocket, RI in 1931, the son of the late Victor and Giovene (Castaldi) Picchioni and was a graduate of the Berklee College of Music.
Mr. Picchioni took great pride in being the music teacher at the Woonsocket Jr. High School for 30 years in Woonsocket, RI.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving the U.S. Army and was a member of the U.S. Army Band in Europe.
John enjoyed his NY Yankees, Boston Bruins, Ham Radio, using his call letters "KB1VU" and was active in the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band where he played the saxophone for several years. He loved time spent with family and in earlier years, teaching his granddaughters Piano and Guitar. He also had a lifelong love of dogs.
He is survived by his son John V. Picchioni, Jr. and his wife Holly of Webster, MA; a sister Vicky and her husband Robert Larochelle of Woonsocket, RI and two granddaughters Hannah Picchioni and Lily Picchioni. He was predeceased by a daughter Clara Picchioni.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday March 24, 2022 at 11:30 AM in St. Mary's Cemetery, Granite St., Uxbridge.
Memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States.

John was a great radio friend from the 1980s and 1990s. Coincidentally, he gave my brother clarinet lessons back in the 1960s. He was a great guy. My sincerest sympathy.
