John Pieck of Altamont, NY, passed away following an unexpected illness. A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many, he will be remembered for his kindness, his ability to fix almost anything (often in very creative ways), and the quiet way he helped anyone who needed it. He shared his knowledge with many people, teaching more by example than explanation. He faced his illness as he faced life: with typical courage and flashes of humor. He had unending love for his family and the things he created with his hands will be cherished as much as family memories.
John is survived by Ginny, his wife of 54 years, his children: Stephanie, Christopher, Mark, Kristen, Steve, Star, Michael, Derrell, Terrina, Andrea, Rashima, Dameon and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cherished his bonds with his childrens’ partners and extended family.
Services are private provided by New Comer Funeral Home. A summer gathering for family and friends will be announced.
Those who wish to celebrate his life can make contributions to Guide Dogs for the Blind, PO Box 151200, San Rafael, Ca 94915 or Y-Knots Sailing, 1872 Pilot Knob Road, Kattskill Bay, NY 12844
