John Pilon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes - Clio Chapel on Feb. 17, 2026.
Pilon, John Jr. – age 72 of Genesee, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, with his wife and daughters by his side. A Mass will take place at 1PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church - 11110 Saginaw St, Mt Morris, MI. Father Roy Horning to officiate, burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Monday at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio from 2PM until 8PM and at church from 12PM until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Old Newsboys of Flint.

John was born in Flint, Michigan on July 29, 1953, to Jack and Sherrie (Rodden) Pilon. He graduated from Genesee High School then went on to marry his high school sweetheart, and love of his life Marlene Compton on March 30,1974. Celebrating what would be 52 years this coming March. They welcomed two daughters and together they built a family that he loved so much and was very proud of.

John worked for General Motors from 1972-1987. In 1983 he attended the Flint Police Academy, graduating in 1984. He found his true passion in life for helping people and his community and being an integral part of many lives. He was not only a hero to his family but also a hero to many others. He proudly retired from Genesee Township as a Law Enforcement Officer after 23 years in the same community he grew up in. After "many" retirements he still stayed active in the offices- serving as Code Enforcement Officer for City of Mt. Morris and most recently Mt. Morris Township. While working for the city, John also worked as a bailiff for the 67th district court.

John prided himself as a family man and loved his family fiercely, more than life itself. There was never any doubt where his wife, kids and grandchildren stood. He always made sure his family was protected, safe, had gas in their cars and a twenty in their pocket.

He was an active member of the Eagles Aerie #3485 where he previously served as President, and where John and Marlene had made many close friendships and countless memories. He belonged to the Elf Khurafeh Shriners in Clio, where he worked many years at the Shrine Circus for the Shriners. John was a Mason of the Welfare Lodge #517, a member in The Northern Masonic Scottish Rites, and The Fraternal Order of Police.

John will always be remembered by his family for always putting them first. He was a protector at heart, and his family was his most cherished. He was most proud of being a Papa above all. John had a great love for music and was a bass and guitar player for many years. His love for music has been shared with his girls and while he loved many genres of music, his favorite was classic rock. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and made many benches throughout the years. He loved Michigan football, the Detroit Lions and watching Jeopardy with his granddaughter Brooklyn. He leaves behind a legacy that his family will proudly honor.

Left to cherish his memory are: Loving wife, Marlene Pilon: His girls: Holly (Jon) Abbott and Kelly (Steve) Goode; 4 grandchildren: Brooklyn, Alison, Jonathon and Charley; Siblings: Sheliah (Mike) Shepard, Mary (Keith) Perior, Bruce (Melissa) Pilon; Brother-In-Law, Jim (Tressa) Compton; Many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sherrie Pilon and in- laws Mick and Jeannie Compton; Brother-In-Laws: Gary (Shirley) Compton and Ken Compton. A special thank you to the McLaren nurses on 4 Central for their compassion and care and to Father Roy Horning.
