John Potter Obituary

John William Potter, 89, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday in Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. Born in Reading, PA, he was a longtime Hamilton Township resident. Mr. Potter graduated from Reading High School in 1939 and upon graduation, he went to work for Birdsbiro Steel Foundry and Machine in Reading. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and served until 1946 during WWII. After the war, he enlisted with the New Jersey Air National Guard in 1950 and served at McGuire Air Force Base until his retirement in 1981 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Mr. Potter then went to work for Bernie�s Bicycle Shop in Mercerville for the next 20 years. He was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Son of the late William H. and Daisy Potter, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy G. Potter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard L. Potter of Westwood, NJ and Dr. William B. and Janet V. Potter of Hamilton Square; a sister Ruth Breen of Omaha, NE; a sister-in-law, Barbara Geiger of Westwood, NJ; four granddaughters Barbara Hoffmann and her husband Richard, Amanda Zunick and her husband Michael, Victoria and Jacqueline Potter; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Zunick and Grace Hoffmann; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and cremation will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment of cremated remains will be held privately in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 350 Whitehorse Ave, Hamilton, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
