John Robert Radewahn
August 3, 1960 - August 15, 2024
John Robert Radewahn, age 64, passed out of this life and entered heaven on August 15, 2024 after a nine-month battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and many friends.
John was born to Harold Radewahn and Lorraine (Willis) Radewahn in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1978. His deep Christian faith touched everything and everyone in his life.
John was united in marriage to Carla Langenegger on August 6, 1988, at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. In their 36 years of marriage, they were blessed with nine children, two sons in law, and three grandchildren. John dedicated himself to family, church, and work, cherishing those relationships and the time spent in those places above all. John cared deeply about the ministry of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and took on numerous leadership roles there. He loved working in his shop and on yard and garden projects, and he was always available to help and advise others with their projects. In the summer, John and his family loved to camp together at state parks throughout Wisconsin. He amassed a large collection of gadgets, gear, and camping t-shirts, which meant a lot to him. His happy place was chopping wood in his backyard.
John began working at Milwaukee Lutheran High School while still a student, and has spent 47 years employed there and with the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee as Director of Buildings and Properties. His legacy includes many close friendships with coworkers, formed during such projects as the planning and construction of Lake Country Lutheran High School, the international dorms at Martin Luther High School, and the Milwaukee Lutheran High School fieldhouse. John always worked with humility, living out Harry Truman's words: "It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit."
John was preceded in death by his father, Harold.
John is survived by his mother, Lorraine; his wife, Carla; children Daniel, Rebekah, Elizabeth (Ben) Gall, Anna (Brad) Larson, Rachel, Jacob, Julia, David, and Lydia; grandchildren Sophia Gall, Ezra Larson, and Levi Gall; siblings Katherine Radewahn, Judy Wickman, Jane (Jim) Rosner, Jim (Krista) Radewahn, and Bob (Laurie) Radewahn; seven nieces and one nephew; and his mother-and father-in-law, Bert and Marilyn Langenegger.
John wanted all who loved and cared about him to attend his celebration of life service, which will be held at Lake Country Lutheran High School on Saturday, September 14th. Visitation 2-5pm, service at 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to The Capital Improvement Fund of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Milwaukee (www.beautifulsaviorlc.com) to continue to maintain the property of the church where he loved to worship his Lord.

August 24, 2024

When John came to visit me in Indiana, he always wanted me to prepare a "do list" (What he could do to help me.) The last time he visited me, he cut down a tree for me, cleaning up and piling up all of the branches. Then he put in a new faucet in the bathroom. He was happiest when he was helping someone.
He is with His Savior Jesus. Much love, Aunt Ellen Tjernagel
