John Rahauiser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Matt Funeral Service, Inc. - Utica on Nov. 30, 2025.
John Rahauiser, 85, passed away peacefully, November 26, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on March 18,1940, John lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and a gentle strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

John shared a loving marriage with his wife, Susan (Randall) Rahauiser, with whom he built a life rooted in love, partnership, and resilience.

He leaves behind his daughter, Kristen, and her husband, Tom Roach of Atlanta; his stepson, Arthur Randall and his wife, Danielle of New Hartford; and his stepdaughter, Amanda Gregory and her husband, Larry of Utica.

John was especially proud of his grandson, Cody James, along with seven other grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. He also leaves behind his sister, Nancy and her companion, Ron; and his brother, Dennis and his companion, Terry. John is survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, including a special niece, Kelly Deck; as well as, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who held a meaningful place in his life.

Of all the joys in John life, none touched his heart more profoundly than his grandson, Cody James. Their bond was truly extraordinary-something felt, not spoken, built from years of shared moments, quiet talks, and the kind of love that asks for nothing but gives everything.

Cody was John's light.

His pride.

His constant source of hope and happiness.

In Cody, John found not just a grandson, but a true companion. Cody's presence brought comfort on difficult days and laughter on the good ones. He gave John reasons to smile when life grew heavy and reminded him of all that was beautiful and worth holding onto.

John delighted in every moment spent with Cody, proudly watching him grow and celebrating each milestone with unwavering love. Cody's visits, conversations, and companionship were a source of great comfort to John, especially in his later years.

Susan takes solace in knowing that John's spirit, strength, and kindness live on in Cody, whose life will forever reflect the love of his Papa.

He was predeceased by his parents, father, Harold Rahauiser and mother, Kathleen (Shealy) Rahauiser; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; his sisters, Patty and Sherri; his brother-in-law, Jene; his sister-in-law, Dorthy; and a great friend, Bill Perry.

John's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Saira Merdanovic, the Merdanovic family, his sister, Nancy, and his sister-in-law, Brenda, for their compassion, support, and unwavering presence during the most difficult times. The family would also like to thank the Waterville Residential Care Center for their all the care and comfort given to not only John but also his family during his final days.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet wisdom, and the love he shared so generously. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

John's family honored him privately at this time.

Susie, I just found out about Johnny' passing, my deepest Condolences to you and family. John and I were long time friends. We worked for Joe Swider and Roc Femia for a few years at the club on Genesee St. Mr. Joe's then Club 2005. We had many laughs there. I shall remember Johnny as a true, good guy. I shall miss him.I shall remember him. Susie I wish you peace. May John rest in peace with those who've gone on ahead. With deep respect! Roc
