So sorry to young to leave us love your emails you sent to me loved your dogs also you will be missed

It was an honor to have known John for many years. His service to his country, community, and fellow veterans will always be remembered as brave and selfless. He was an exceptional father and husband. John was deeply committed to his family and a devoted friend. May his service in the heavens be as exemplary as his contributions during his time on Earth.

I grew up with the Rakes Family, John was a really good guy, we were also friends on FB. I will miss my friend. I wish I didn't live in NC I would have gone to the wake.<3

You sent an "Open House" for all holidays to friends as well as family and showered us with food and stories....those of us who knew you, you will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace John. Til we meet again!
