John Ransom Obituary
Private family funeral services will be Saturday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with the Rev. Mitch Ivey officiating.
Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

John Robert Ransom was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Kearney to Gene and Bonnie (Montgomery) Ransom. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1967. After graduating from Kearney State College, he moved to Alliance where he worked for Lampert Building Center. John later returned to Kearney where he worked for West Company, Winnelectric and Ask Supply.
John attended Grace Fellowship Church. He enjoyed camping, boating, trains and Bible study with brothers and sisters of the Lord.
Survivors include his sister, Jackie Mercer and husband Steve of Kearney; sister-in-law Ruth Ransom of Franklin; nieces and nephews, Chad Mercer and wife Angie, Karl and wife Karena, all of Kearney, Jennifer Trompke and husband Jerry, Patricia Schurman and husband Ed and Terri Wenninghoff, all of Franklin.
John was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and brother Jim Ransom.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Fellowship Church or AseraCare Hospice of Kearney.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. He lived a block south of us ( Grandad was deputy sheriff and we lived in the jail living quarters) Enjoyed John's friendship over the years, Rest in peace my friend, prayers

I am so glad that John was able to attend our 50th reunion of the Kearney High School Class of 1967, thanks to John's longtime friend, Chan Lynch. We will miss you, John!
