Mr. John H. Reed

John H. Reed was granted his angel wings on Saturday, January 3, 2026 as he quietly went with the Lord. John H. Reed was born on May 20, 1937, in Canalou, Missouri to the union of Charlie George Reed and Maude Ella Johnson Reed. He was the (11) child of thirteen children. John obeyed the gospel at an early age.

He attended Douglas High School in Mounds, Illinois. John looked forward to attending the many high school reunions to unite with friends. As a young adult, John moved to New York. His first job after moving to New York, he worked taking care of horses. While living in New York, he met the love of his life, Addie M. Reed. They later were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 21, 1963, and to this union one son was born, John Anthony Reed. Addie proceeded him in death.

John retired from Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, New York. He also worked as a safety officer for Uniondale School District. After he retired, he moved his family to Florissant, Missouri to be around family. John and his family joined the Florissant Church of Christ and made the congregation their new home. John loved to host family gatherings at his home. He often cooked gourmet dishes that have family members mouthwatering. John enjoyed listening to jazz music. He was a sharp dresser and was known for his stylish hats.

On January 3, 2026, he leaves to cherish his memories: a loving son, John Anthony Reed; his brother, Charles Reed, St. Louis, seven nieces: Joyce Spicer, Phoenix, AZ, Glenda Nalls, St. Louis, MO, Carmen Alexander, Chicago Heights, IL, Glenda Palms, Madison Wisconsin, and Peggy Palms, Jacksonville, Fla, Cassandra Williams (Berkley) of Courtland Virginia, Devita Anderson of Philadelphia, PA; seven nephews: Waymon Flowers, Park Forest, IL, Antoine (Lois) Reed, Matteson, IL, Konard Reed (Mekoliet), Chicago, IL, Martin Akerbloom, Santio, TX, Tyrone (Angela) Reed and Douglas Palms; and Steven Mason , Franklin, VA.
