I have attached a photo of the fraternity house when Scorch and the others were there. Not the best but all I can do.

I met Scorch as an older adult at the Penn State P Lambda Phi reunions. He was always a friendly laughing friend to all of the brothers at the fraternity. My sympathies to the family for your loss. attached is a photo of the Fraternity from 1943 and the fraternity house they loved.

Scorch became my best friend at Penn State. He was my fraternity brother in Pi Lambda Phi. But we were as close as brothers could be. We even dated the same girl, sequentially. While he was in Air Force met school at U of O in Norlan, OK, I was in missile training in Wichita Falls, Tx. We would spend bachelor weekends together (I was engaged at the time), meeting either at Tinker AFB, Sheppard AFB or Ft Sill, OK (half-way in between). I spent the third night of my honeymoon, on the drive from Philadelphia to Lincoln AFB as guests of his parents. I will always miss him and treasure having been his friend.

John ("Scorch") was a great fraternity brother to many at Penn State Pi Lambda Phi. I recall many great times with him as an "older" brother (I am only 82!). Among other things that are of lesser socal value, he and his father and mother did teach me the valued skill of how to play bridge. I regret that he got his nickname of "Scorch" before my time atthe house - he apparently learned the hard way how not to start a gas oven by getting too close to it!

I'll always remember him fondly.
