John B. Rideout, 85, of West Union, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Mercy Fairfield Hospital. He was born October 20, 1940 in Vanceburg, KY, son of the late Delbert Sherman Rideout and Bonita Ruth Blair Betz. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Evans Rideout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dolores Rideout; sister, Aletha Rideout-Gabbard; brothers, Richard and Kenny Thrasher and one of his close friends, Johnny Newsome.

John was a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge #317 and faithfully served his community in many meaningful ways throughout his life. A preacher for more than 50 years, he dedicated himself to sharing his faith and guiding others with compassion and conviction. In 1976, John founded and operated Rideout's Muffler Shop, which began in Manchester before later moving to its current location in West Union, where he proudly served generations of customers. In addition to his ministry and business, John also gave his time as a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department for several years, further reflecting his deep commitment to service and care for others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Colleen Rideout, Lori Rideout, Brian (Annette) Rideout and Chris Tomlin, who was like a daughter to him; grandchildren, Jeremy, Joey, Mandi, Aimee, Kirkland, Adreana and Kalyn; great-grandchildren, Leelan, Latham and Gabriel; sisters, Belinda Glencoe and Betsy Wisener; close friend, Pastor Larry Cooper as well as several other family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 AM, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W. Second St., Manchester. Pastor Gerald Parks will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunshine Ridge Cemetery.
