John Roberts Obituary
John Russell, the son of Russell and Gladys (LaFavor) Roberts, was born on May 7, 1955, in Mankato, MN. He graduated from Wellcome Memorial High School with the class of 1973. John graduated from Faribault Area Vocational Technical Institute with a two-year carpentry degree. He was married to Jan Brown on May 10, 1979. John owned and operated his own business, John Roberts Construction for many years. He was a skilled and talented carpenter, taking great pride in his work. He was a true craftsman, with a great attention to detail that showed in all his projects. It was through those projects that he established a tremendous relationship with many of his clients. John loved spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities. He also enjoyed sports, playing cards, and his travels with Jan.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Roberts; son, Jim Roberts (Brittany); grandchildren, Calvin and Penelope; and many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gladys; and his brother, Gary Roberts.
A time of gathering to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. A time for sharing and prayer will be held at 5:00 p.m.

John was a true master carpenter. We knew him and his reputation for many years. We decided to hire him to build a Gazebo for our home near Cedar Lake. The finished product was sensational and unique. While he was here doing our Gazebo, he would quit to have lunch. Our dog, Dilli pegged him as a source to share his lunch every day. We are not sure if Jan knew he was sharing his lunches. He would talk with Dilli and explain what he was doing each day. We will miss his expertise and friendship and humor in all he did. He was a very good friend to our son, Brad and was a good source for his advice when he got stuck doing a carpentry project.
He was well loved and will be missed by many. Jan, Jim and families, our most sincere condolence.
