John Dewey Robinson Sr., age 89, affectionately known as JR, entered this world on January 27, 1936. Surrounded by family, JR peacefully transitioned on February 11, 2025, after a short yet courageous battle with cancer.
JR was known for his great personality and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He never met a stranger. To know him was to love him. JR was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In addition to that he loved going to bingo, the casino, as well as bowling. JR was a member of the Rare Bloods motorcycle club for 30 years, affiliated with the Eagles motorcycle club for 45 years, Blues Elite for 20 years, and also participated in the annual round up motorcycle event.
JR was employed as a laborer through the local 423 under the late John scales. He assisted in the construction and building of Anheuser-Busch in which he later became employed at Anheuser-Busch in 1980. After 15 years of service he retired in 1995. JR had a passion for all genres of music. Because of his love for music, he joined the Gospel Clouds of Joy in the early 1960s as the only and original drummer.
JR is preceded in death by parents, Josephine Carter and Roy Adam. As well as bonus father, William Carter. Siblings brothers, Joseph and Gene Holmes. Children Sons, Ronnie Price, Aaron Hill, and Travon Hammons. Grandchildren, Ebony and Marcus Christian, Maya Robinson, Christopher Russell, and Terrence Manns Jr. Great grandchildren, Finesse and Enzo Robinson. Special friend Albert Hamilton.
John leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life of 57 years Evelyn Patricia Robinson and sister Ernestine Holmes Saunders. Daughters: April Bond, Latoia (Frank) Burgess, Mondale (Reginald) Lipscomb, Rhonda Francis, Denise (Don) Stroud, Debbie (Mark) Flourney, Gwendolyn (Clayton) Carr, Sherri Hamler-Earthman, Kelly Jones, Siandra Bryant, Lauren (Derrick) Mason, and Brandi Scott. Sons: John Curry, Tony (Kim) Morgan, Steve Russell, Dale Mitchell, John Robinson Jr., Randy Jones, Kevin Dysard, Terrance (Charlotte) Hamler, Tony Roberts, Shawn Norris, Rassaun Johnson, Jarrell Howell, and Brandon Large.
A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Special grandson and caregiver Mark Frances Jr. Good friends: Tim (Diane) Blalock, and Gregory Harrison (Lipp).
