John W. Rockenstein Jr. passed away September 18, 2024, at his residence in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 76. John was born August 8, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri to John William Rockenstein, Sr. and Constance Hellwege. He was raised in Wentzville, Missouri and graduated from Culver-Stockton College and began his career working for Ford Motor Company as an auditor. John then worked for Merrill Lynch and began a career in Financial Investments. He then started his own company, Central States Metals, specializing in commodity trading, specifically precious metals. This took him to many places around the world including England, where he met Allison White. They married and had one son, David Rockenstein. Through his work he made many connections which led him to becoming a headhunter, placing many individuals with large companies such as John Deere and Boeing. In 2011 he married Sharlene Gries and moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas. He then began a website and became CEO of The Career House International Inc. using his knowledge to assist others in improving their skills and employability. John was also a member of the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan. John enjoyed sports, trivia contests, athletics, fishing, and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his spouse, Sharlene Gries Rockenstein; his son, David Rockenstein of St. Louis, Missouri; his sister, Faith Rockenstein of Oregon; his stepdaughter, Amanda Cooley (Billy Cooley) of Mountain Home; step grandchildren, Colton, Emmaline and Case Cooley and Mia Lansford.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 100 Western Hills Loop, Mountain Home, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2024. All are invited to attend. A Memorial Service will also be held at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis on September 28th at 10:00 a.m., where he will be laid to rest in the Rockenstein family cemetery plot.
Arrangements are under the direction of Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
