John Rosenberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2026.
Vonore - John Gabriel Rosenberg, 80, of Vonore, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. John was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 12, 1945, to Sidney and Paula Rosenberg. He attended Mumford High School in Detroit and Eastern Michigan University before serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. He completed a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic service in combat. After his time in the military, John spent 33 years as a schoolteacher at Rochester Adams High School. He taught business management, ran the school store, and oversaw a very successful DECA program. Many of his former students stayed in close contact with him throughout his life-a testament to the lasting impact he had on them. John retired in 2004 and moved to Vonore, Tennessee. In retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and pickleball, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his love and devotion to his family, his students, and his country, as well as his willingness to help and serve others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Paula Rosenberg, and his son-in-law, Blaine Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Heide Rosenberg; his sister, Nan Hunter (Bruce); his children, Julie Cape (Shane), Clint Rosenberg (Kim), Grant Rosenberg (Allison), Bonnie Boss, and Blythe Hall Adams; and eleven grandchildren: Sidney and Samantha Cape; Casey and Riley Rosenberg; Jack, George, and June Rosenberg; Luke, Lillian, and Logan Boss; and Evelyn Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
