John Ross Stephens, age 84 of Toccoa, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in Demorest, Georgia on September 11, 1941, he was a son of the late Ferman and Della Williams Stephens.
Ross served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and later retired after a 32-year career with Fieldale Farms Corporation. He was a hardworking man and a strong provider for his family. Most important in his life was time well spent with those he loved. He was a good husband, Dad, Papa, and Great-Papa. Ross was also a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Stephens, and brothers, Guy Stephens and William “Bill” Stephens.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elaine Welborn Stephens; children, Patricia Garrett (Darryl), Michael Stephens (Tracie), Angela Loudermilk (David), Lougean Stephens, and Lavelle Stephens; brothers, Garnett Stephens and Junior Stephens; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mr. Stephens’ wishes were to be cremated, and the family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
