John H. Schenck

Reverend John H. Schenck, of Somerset passed away on Saturday, February 28th at home. He was 72.

Born and raised in Somerville, he has lived in Somerset for over 30 years.

He attended Seton Hall University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, then later attended Awkng School of Theology, graduating in 2024 with his Doctoral.

Reverend Schenck worked at the Staten Island Rehab, retiring in 2019 as Chief Biomed Engineer for the New York Region. He had also served as the Pastor of the Marantha Baptist Fellowship Church in Somerset for more than 27 years.

He enjoyed gardening, nature and all of God's creations within, biblical studies, and most of all spending time with his family and loved ones.

Reverend Schenck is predeceased by his siblings, Stew Charles, Gerald, Beverly, Renee and Raymond.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Linda; son and daughter-in-law, Randal & Carema Schenck of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Lauren Schenck of Sebring, Florida; siblings, Robert, Mitzij, Keith and Sidney; and 5 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 22nd at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset with visitation from 1 to 3 PM and funeral services from 3 to 5 PM. Cremation will be held privately.
