John Scimeca Obituary

Born in NYC, NY in 1930, John lived a long and full life marked by deep love, unwavering commitment to family, and quiet strength. In July 1952, he married the love of his life, Rose Marie Alvaney, and together they built a life grounded in devotion, love and shared joy that spanned over seven decades.
John proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged, earning the deep respect of those around him. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career in operations, working for Sears and Roebuck. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he approached his professional life with the same dedication, integrity, and quiet determination that had defined his time in uniform. His leadership and dependability earned the admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Whether at work or in his personal life, John's steady presence and gentle wisdom left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
His legacy is survived by his children, John (Susan) Scimeca, Michael (Susan) Scimeca & Theresa (Thomas) Barbagallo, his grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Howard, Matthew (Nicole) Scimeca, Kristen & Danielle Barbagallo, his great grandchildren, Olivia & Landon Howard, Grayson & Ellie Scimeca and Davian Healy, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present on Monday, May 12th, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services– 732 Yonkers Avenue – Yonkers, New York 10704 (914) 375-1400 www.FRSWFH.com. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, May 13th at Saint John the Baptist Church - 670 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704. Following the Mass, John will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Saw Mill River Road- Hastings on Hudson, New York 10706.
