SAVANNAH - John Robert "Bob" Sciolino, Sr., 69, of Savannah, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah and was surrounded by his family. He was born on April 22, 1941 in Buffalo, NY and has lived in Savannah, GA most of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992. Bob was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and also a member of American Legion Post 184. He was a sentimental man who loved animals, especially his two dogs. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Alice Sciolino. He was a wonderful, loving, and compassionate husband, father, and pepaw. He is survived by his wife, Diane Whalen Sciolino, of Savannah, GA; son, John R. Sciolino, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer Hill Sciolino of Charlotte, NC; sister, Shirley Emden of Abbeville, SC; and grandchildren, Alex Sciolino, Parker Sciolino, and Paige Sciolino of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 16th from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Islands Chapel with a Vigil Service at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 17th at 11:00 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will be on Friday, November 19th at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers the family asks that remembrances be made in his memory to Hospice Savannah Inc. P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416, Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health University Center 4700 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404 or Savannah Humane Society 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
