John Scott IV, 78, of Huron, Ohio and St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away at his home in Ohio Sunday, November 30, 2025.
He was born March 3, 1947 in Elyria, Ohio to John Scott III and Leah (House) Scott.
John graduated from Elyria High School Class of 1965 and from Virginia Military Institute, Class of 1969, He received his MBA from Baldwin Wallace Class of 1986. He was employed as a Manufacturing Manager at Ridgid Tool Company in Elyria and as a leading Engineer at Bicron Corporation in Newbury/Solon where he helped design the Gamma Ray Observatory circulating this earth protecting astronauts.
John had musical talents practicing the violin at Oberlin Conservatory for 10 years. He was concert Master of Elyria High School's Orchestra and he sang in the winning high school choir. At VMI he was Glee Club Director and Drum Major for the Institute 1968-69. He was a member pf St Peter's Episcopal Church in Elyria.
John's Extracurricular activity was Snow Skiing. He started the Cast N Keg Ski Club in Lorain, Ohio and gathered many friends along his 50-year career. He attended all bus trips to Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Colorado and all over the Rocky Mountains. A very inspiring trip was taken in 1979 when he and Greg Benedict Played John Denver music on their guitars accompanying more than 50 skiers in the Airplane passenger area, singing especially "Rocky Mountain High" flying out to Aspen, Colorado!!!
John is survived by his wife, Nancy (Lamvermeyer) whom he married July 2, 1977. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Hallie (Ed) Pettegrew; step-son, Jeff Temple (wife Patricia); 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Jane Bettcher; and step-son, Lane Bettcher.
Friends may call Thursday, December 18 at 10 AM at Birmingham Methodist Church, 15018 South St., Birmingham, Ohio until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 AM with Reverend Richard Kretchmar presiding and Reverend Melvin Sayler presiding over the service.

Dear Nancy and family,
We are so sorry for your loss and send our deepest condolences. John was such a wonderful person, and he will be missed. We were so fortunate and grateful to have been able to spend time with you both when in Florida. We cherish the memories of the great times we shared together. May we keep him "alive" in all the memories we have of him. May he Rest in Peace.
