John Robert Sepin
John Robert Sepin died peacefully November 6, 2025, at Diamond Willow in Mt. Iron, formerly of Long Lake, Fayal Township for over 62 years.
John was born May 23, 1935, in Dodge Center, Minn., to John H. and Pearl R. (Northway) Sepin. At 13 his family (John with brother Duane and sister Judy) moved from Hayfield to Remer, Minn. A year later his father passed away. His mother married Bruce Brown, and they had three children, Linda, David and Rodney. He graduated from Remer High School in 1953.
John was in the Air Force for four years during the 50's as a survival instructor. He met his wife Donna (Bray) while he was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base outside of Topeka, Kansas. They married on September 8, 1956, and moved back to Minnesota after John was discharged from the service. John had his first mining job in Aurora at Erie Mining company. He continued his employment at the taconite companies transferring to Eveleth Taconite where he worked as an instrument repairman for over thirty years, retiring at the age of 62.
John loved machines, fast cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, adventure, travel, and enjoyed so many things. If you knew John, you probably knew what he loved. He had a wonderful life full of so many adventures that he enjoyed with his wife Donna of 69 years and his children and grandchildren.
John belonged to a couple of car clubs, the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR) and an active member of United in Christ Lutheran Church of Eveleth, where he enjoyed his involvement with his Tuesday Tool Time Guys.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl; and stepfather, Bruce Brown; sister, Judy Erickson; brother, Duane Sepin; son, John; father and mother in-law, Don and Dorothea Bray; brother in-law, George Bray; his beloved dog, Smokey; and adopted dog, Dusty.
He is survived by his wife Donna; daughters, Nanci (David) Jorgenson, Kathy (Darin) Russell, Peggy Sederlund; grandchildren, David (Star) Jorgenson, Lucas (Amy) Jorgenson, Joseph (Melissa) Jorgenson, Angie (Phil) Miskovich, Travis (Grace) Ernst, Joshua (Crystal) Ernst, Eric Ernst, Mykle Hadrava and Jessi (Travis) Holland; 15 great- grandchildren; brothers, David (Robin) Brown, Rodney (Angie) Brown and sister, Linda Brown; sister-in-law, Debbie Sepin, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at United in Christ Lutheran Church, Eveleth. Officiant will be Pastor Jeanne Madsen. Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Eveleth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
