MOUNT PLEASANT- John L. Septer, age 58, of Keokuk, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
John was born September 6, 1965, in Burlington, the son of Ernest and Shirley (Nau) Septer. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1984. John joined the United States Army following graduation and served for four years. He worked at Tyson Foods in Columbus Junction for many years. John married Michelle Kagemann on June 3, 2019, in Mount Pleasant. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and country music, riding his Harley, playing with a Yo-Yo, and shooting pool. He also enjoyed having a cold PBR or a glass of Jim Beam. John loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Packers and Chicago White Sox fan.
John is survived by his wife Michelle Kagemann of Burlington; four children Matthew Zachmeyer of Columbus Junction, Renay (Jacob) Olson of Mount Pleasant, Amillia “Amy” Kagemann of Oklahoma, Chelsie Kagemann of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Abby, Bladen, Remmington, Rayden, Caroline, Lydia, Logan, Levi, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents.
According to his wishes his body has been cremated and no formal service will be held at this time. The family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to assist with final expenses.
