Mr. John Dwight Shaver, age 82, of Traphill NC, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1943, in Wilkes County, to the late Carl and Edna Shaver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jolene Wooten, and his brother, Frank Shaver.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Eva Sue Collins Shaver; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Sue and Wesley Carl Hayes; his son, Jay Carl Shaver; grandchildren, Benny Hayes (Brandie), Brittany Hayes, Daulton Hayes (Katherine), Brandon Hayes (Serena), and Amber Hayes; great grandchildren, Gracie Hawkins Bates, Matthew Hawkins Bates, Sebastian Hayes, Rayna Hayes, and Larry John Hayes; sister Barbara Jean Byrd; nieces Stephanie Shaver and Tina Byrd; nephew, Jeff Byrd; and his four legged friend, Patches.
Mr. Shaver was a loving husband, father, and great grandfather who loved anything outdoors, including camping and RVing, and was retired from the Traphill Fire Department. There will be a family conducted memorial service at a later date. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Shaver family.
